Ronald T. Brooks, 24 yr. old male, Pawtucket, RI resident

On July 8, 2003 at approximately 10:35 PM, Brooks was present in the Navajo Court housing complex in New Bedford when he was shot and killed by a gunman in a passing motor vehicle.


Jonathan Butler, 22 yr. old male, New Bedford
resident

On January 29, 2005 at approximately 9:15 PM, Butler was shot and killed as he exited a vehicle at the Westlawn housing complex on Smith Street, New Bedford.


Bernadette S. DePina, 49 yr. old New Bedford
resident

DePina was shot several times within her residence during the early morning hours of May 26, 2006.  Her son, David Depina, was arrested for the shooting murder of Justin Barry in downtown New Bedford on May 21, 2006.  A second shooter in Barry’s murder remains unidentified.


Joseph Downing, 41 yr. old male, Dartmouth
resident

On May 3, 2003 at approximately 10:45 PM, Downing was found in his van shot to death at the Crossroads Apartments in Dartmouth.


Clinton Dunston, 23 yr. old male,
New Bedford
resident

On October 5, 2004 at approximately 6:30 PM, Dunston was shot several times as he sat in a parked car outside of 63 South Sixth Street, New Bedford.

        
Antonio Frias, Swansea


Antonio Frias was found shot to death on Jan. 30, 2005 in his friend’s Swansom Road home in Swansea.


Robert Greene, 29 yr. old male, New Bedford resident

On April 24, 2004 at approximately 11:30 PM, Robert Greene was fatally shot as he stood outside his residence of 111 Smith Street, New Bedford.  Shots were fired from within a motor vehicle at the intersection of Smith and Cottage Streets.


Cecil Lopes, 18 yr. old male, New Bedford
resident

On Halloween night (10/31/04) at approximately 8:25 PM, Lopes was shot to death while with several people outside of the United Front Housing project near Chancery and Kempton Streets.


James C. Marvel, 44 yr. old male, Taunton
resident

On September 2, 2004 at approximately 4:30 PM, Marvel was found stabbed to death in his apartment at 8 Kilmer Avenue in Taunton.

 


Antonio J. Semedo, 35 yr. old male, New Bedford
resident

On June 18, 2006 at approximately 2:45 AM, Semedo was shot to death as he drove his car northbound along Rte. 18 at the South Second Street ramp.  Several shots were fired from within another car as it passed Semedo’s car.


Raymond Andrade, 26-year-old male, New Bedford resident.

On January 25, 2004 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Mr. Andrade was shot and killed on Griffin Street in New Bedford.

 


Suzanna Sanchez-Alvarado
42-year-old female, New Bedford resident
On October 17, 2005 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Ms. Alvarado-Sanchez was found along the northbound lane of Route 88 in Westport. She had been beaten to death before being dumped in the breakdown lane.


Marilyn Roberts Cardoza
34-years-old


Marilyn Roberts Cardoza
was 34-years-old when she went missing in June of 1988 in New Bedford.  Her body has never been found.


Christina Monteiro
 20-years-old


Christina Monteiro was 20-years-old when she went missing in July of 1988 in New Bedford. Her body was never found.


John Oliveira Jr
John Oliveira Jr. was shot and killed in Swansea in July of 2006.  His case was the first of the "cold cases" to be solved. Derek Woollam was convicted of first degree murder in February, 2009.


Albert “Rocky” Lopes

On Sunday December 1, 2002 shortly before 3:00 AM, Albert “Rocky” Lopes was involved in a fight with a group of males outside of 94 Griffin Court in the Bay Village apartment area of New Bedford.  The fight reportedly ended when one of the males in the group pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Lopes.  Several residents called 911.  The group of males fled on foot.  Lopes was transported to St Luke’s Hospital where he succumbed to the gunshot wounds.


Dana Haywood 31 year-old male New Bedford resident

On Monday night July 4, 2005 at approximately 10:15 PM, the New Bedford Police responded to a report of gunshots on Russell Street in the area of Monty Park.  Upon their arrival New Bedford Police discovered Dana Haywood located on the sidewalk across from #38 Russell Street.  Haywood had been shot multiple times.  He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.


Alvis Dexter James 33 year-old male Easton resident

On March 30, 2003 at approximately 1:15 AM, Dexter James was shot and killed inside the Neutral Zone (Homeward Bound Lounge) at 1864 Purchase St in New Bedford.  James was involved in a struggle with several other males when he was shot.  Several witnesses observed the struggle and heard the gunshot. 


Rose Moniz, 41 year-old female, New Bedford resident

On March 23, 2001 Rose Moniz was found by her father bludgeoned to death in her home at 3448 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford.


Oranuch B. Sousa 48 year-old Asian female, Fall River resident

On Saturday June 16, 2001 at approximately 1:30 PM, the body of Oranuch Sousa was discovered murdered in an open grassy field at the end of Griffin St. in Fall River. 


Alberto “Tito” Gonzalez
20 Year-Old
New Bedford Resident

Mr. Gonzalez was the victim of a drive-by shooting during the evening of November 20, 2003. Mr. Gonzalez was struck by one bullet to the back of his pelvis as he was walking near the intersection of Spruce and Hillmans streets in New Bedford. Three men were indicted for his murder in January of 2009.
